Canadian field hockey player Matt Petgrave will not be prosecuted after the death ofAdam Johnson, whose throat was slit by a skate during a game in 2023. Petgrave had been arrested for manslaughter, but the Crown Prosecution Service announced that no charges would be brought. South Yorkshire Police conducted an extensive investigation with North American experts, examined videos and interviewed witnesses. In May 2024, the case was referred for adjudication, but the CPS considered thatno realistic conviction was possible.
