Man killed outside 7-Eleven after complimenting tattoo

In Newport News, Virginia, Divine Jackson, 30, was sentenced to life in prison for the murder of 24-year-old Michael Faison Jr. In July 2022, Faison Jr. was gunned down outside a 7-Eleven on Warwick Boulevard. According to court documents, he had simply complimented Jackson's girlfriend's tattoos, which triggered the shooting. After the sentence was announced, Jackson turned to the victim's family to apologize. He said he had acted under the influence of alcohol and regretted his impulsive gesture.
