Gran Canaria under water after torrential rains

Gran Canaria is facing heavy flooding after intense rainfall. In Telde, 32 liters of water per square meter fell in one hour, turning the streets into torrents. Images show cars being swept out to sea. The authorities issued a pre-alert for the Canary Islands, with a red alert for Gran Canaria. At higher altitudes, Tenerife, Gran Canaria and La Palma are experiencing snow and ice. Residents and tourists are advised to stay indoors. Further precipitation is expected this weekend.
