Man attacks priest in Spokane (Washington)

During a prayer service at Our Lady of Lourdes Cathedral in Spokane (Washington State), a man seated in the front row suddenly stood up and lunged towards the altar. Father David Gaines, who was praying alongside Bishop Thomas Daly, was struck in the face before subduing his assailant. Worshippers helped to immobilize him, while the priest in charge of the ceremony called security. The man was arrested for assault and trespassing. The service resumed after a prayer for him.
