On New Zealand's South Island, Porters Pass is a famous mountain road linking the Canterbury Plains to the West Coast, in Arthur's Pass National Park. At an altitude of 939 metres, the scenery is breathtaking, with mountains, forests and lakes. But this panorama can quickly turn tragic, as it did for two passengers who lost control of their car and fell into a ravine. Fortunately, they escaped without serious injury, even if the experience was terribly frightening.
