Police intervene to stop a family murder

In West Valley City, Utah, Erik Bertelsen, 35, was shot and killed by police while stabbing his parents, Terrie, 63, and Kerry Bertelsen, 67. The initial 911 call was confusing, but suspicious noises prompted officers to intervene. Entering the basement, they found Bertelsen kneeling, continuing to stab. Despite their orders, he did not drop his weapon. The police fired to stop him, but the tension continued until they realized he wasn't breathing.
