A hit-and-run driver named Marvin Geddes, 33, collided with a motorcycle policeman, PC Derek Hearn, during a pursuit in Southampton. Geddes, at the wheel of a stolen car with suspicious plates, was driving at 80 mm/h in areas limited to 40 km/h mph, in the opposite direction and after a red light. Although the pursuit was cancelled as a precaution, Hearn didn't receive the information in time. Geddes collided violently with him before fleeing. The policeman escaped with serious leg injuries. Geddes was sentenced to four years' imprisonment.
