In 2017, Sharon Hacker, 42, survived an axe attack at a gas station in Enmore, Australia. The attacker, Evie Amati, 24 at the time, wounded Sharon at the base of the skull after nearly decapitating 32-year-old Ben Rimmer. Although considered "lucky" by the authorities, Sharon suffered serious injuries. Her occipital bone was shattered, resulting in chronic nerve pain, heart-attack-like symptoms and sleep disorders. Today, despite the after-effects, she remains optimistic and hopes that Amati, freed after eight years, has changed.
