Marcos de Araujo, a 57-year-old city councillor, was shot dead outside his home in Brazil, while talking to his mother-in-law. Two gunmen opened fire, shooting several times at de Araujo, who was hit nine times and pronounced dead at the scene. His mother-in-law, Marina Maia, was also wounded and taken to hospital. The assailants fled on motorcycles and were still at large on Friday morning.
