A ship loaded with goods, the Maelys Lome II, capsized on Monday at the Varreux terminal in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. The incident left seven people dead and 17 injured. During loading, a truck maneuver in the hold unbalanced the vessel. The ship, built in 1970 and weighing 2,401 tons, usually transported goods between Gran Sud and Port-au-Prince. 34 trucks were on board at the time of the tragedy. Transport operations were temporarily suspended, but the terminal assured that international activities would not be affected.
