An Azerbaijan Airlines plane flying from Baku to Grozny was hit by a Russian missile on Christmas Day. The shot, attributed to a Pantsir-S defense system in Chechnya, severely damaged the aircraft, killing 38 people in the crash in Kazakhstan. Despite emergency appeals, Russia refused to allow the pilot to land and reportedly jammed the GPS, complicating navigation. The investigation is ongoing, conducted separately by Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan, while national mourning has been observed for the victims.
