On Monday, a volcanic eruption rocked Colombia, spewing mud and flames into the air and forcing local residents to flee. The event occurred in the Urabá region, in the department of Antioquia. Although no serious injuries were reported, 3 children were hospitalized for smoke inhalation and 5 people fainted. A total of 109 families had to be evacuated. Experts explain that the eruption was a "mud volcano", a phenomenon common in certain regions of Colombia, quite different from lava and magma eruptions. Despite the scare, damage was limited.
