Former policeman attempts to murder his ex and his mother by driving into a funeral home

William McBurnie, a former police officer, has been jailed after attempting to kill his ex-girlfriend, Zoe Turnbull, and her 71-year-old mother by driving his drunken car into the window of their funeral business in Jedburgh, Roxburghshire. CCTV footage shows McBurnie accelerating towards the store and the two women slamming into the wall in terror. As he emerged from the rubble, the two women were seen outside the store hugging each other. At his trial at Livingston High Court, McBurnie pleaded guilty to attempted murder. Judge Lord Mulholland warned him that he would be jailed for "a very long time".
