Granite Island: He recounts his brother's last moments, before he was swept out to sea

A tragic event occurred on Granite Island, South Australia, where 17-year-old Mehdi Habibi was swept away by a wave, as his brother Sahil looked on helplessly. Mehdi had approached the rocks to be photographed by his brother when the wave hit him. Despite the efforts of the emergency services and the air rescue unit, Mehdi has not yet been found. The Habibi family, originally from Afghanistan, had recently been reunited with their father in Australia, and had travelled to Granite Island to celebrate Father's Day. Difficult weather conditions are complicating the rescue mission. Granite Island remains closed to visitors until further notice.
