In a tragic event in Illinois, a woman with schizophrenia-paranoia, Sonya Massey, lost her life to a police deputy, Sean Grayson. Fearing a break-in, Massey called the police for help. During the intervention, she was asked to move the boiling water she was preparing away from her stove. Alerted by a possible threat of assault with the hot water, the officers drew their weapons. Despite her quick apology, Grayson shot Massey, one of the bullets piercing her from eye to neck. He was arrested and is currently charged with three counts of first-degree murder without bail.
