A woman randomly attacked by thugs with a baseball bat

An act of gratuitous violence has struck New York: a 58-year-old woman was savagely attacked in broad daylight by two hooded thugs armed with a baseball bat. The attack occurred as she was on her way to her place of volunteer work; according to her sister, she had just left her job at a day-care center. She suffered several blows, including to the head, back and legs, and had to be hospitalized. Intriguingly, the assailants didn't steal anything, not even her handbag, casting doubt on the motives behind the attack. At present, the police are still looking for the culprits.
