Controversy as police officer filmed punching handcuffed man in the head

A former Alleghany County sheriff's deputy, James Wright, is being sued over a case of police violence. Two years ago, Joshua Barricks was arrested at Covington Farm and Fuel store and ended up in hospital following a case of police violence committed by Wright, who is now being sued for $5 million. Surveillance video shows Wright striking Barricks in the head 12 times while the latter had his hands in the air. Wright pleads that he acted in accordance with law enforcement policy, an assertion disputed by Barricks' lawyer. The trial is scheduled for October.
