Canton Ohio K9 police officer on leave after video showing dog attacking man already down

The Ohio police are facing a controversial situation. Nicholas Casto, an officer in the canine brigade, has been suspended following an intervention during which his dog appears to attack a man lying on the ground with his hands behind his back. The event took place during a traffic stop where a half-opened bottle of alcohol and a firearm were found in the car. Tension mounted when the crowd became aggressive, forcing the police to intervene. Casto warned a man who was threatening his police dog before arresting him. The scene was filmed by an onboard camera and is currently the focus of an internal investigation. Four arrests were made that day, including that of the man provoking the dog.
