A recent TikTok shared by Dr. Karan Raj reveals the rare case of a woman who discovered a calcified "stone baby" inside her. Suffering from bladder stones, examinations showed a calcified fetus in her abdomen. The doctor explained that this condition is called a lithopedion, and is the result of an abdominal ectopic pregnancy, an extremely rare phenomenon where the fetus begins to develop outside the uterus. Normally, the mother's body absorbs the dead embryo, but if the fetus is too large, it is perceived as a foreign body and, to prevent infection, the mother's immune system calcifies and encapsulates the fetus.
