The Kharkiv tragedy in Ukraine, an attack on a DIY hypermarket by Russian missiles, left at least 14 people dead and many more injured. Russia claims that the Epicentre store was a military target linked to Ukrainian intelligence, a claim refuted by a video showing an ordinary store. Rescue workers are engaged in a desperate search for victims, including a father whose eight-year-old son, Mykhailo, has provided a DNA sample for identification. Gloomy images from surveillance cameras reveal people at work, totally surprised by the attack. The mayor of Kharkiv, Ihor Terekhov, described the attack as "terrorism pure and simple".
