New York liquor store owner Francisco Valerio faces up to 7 years in prison for shooting a robber who assaulted him during an attempted robbery at his business. The incident took place when Francisco and his brother Luis caught Kevin Pullutasi and Edwin Paiquiza stealing. The owners managed to eject them from the store, but the thieves, aged 20, started beating them. Francisco returned fire with a gun that accidentally discharged, hitting Pullutasi. He was charged with two counts of assault, while the two robbers were charged with petty theft and face up to a year in prison.
