An attempt at a daring aerial maneuver turned deadly when pilot Muhammad Asim Jawad, 32, lost control of his Yakovlev Yak-130 fighter jet as it rolled three times at low altitude. The plane eventually bounced off the runway and burst into flames, prompting Jawad and his co-pilot, captain Sohan Hasan Khan, to eject. The two men managed to land safely in the Karnaphuli River and were rescued by the air force, navy and local fishermen. Sadly, Jawad died in hospital, while Khan's condition remains critical. The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) attributed the accident to mechanical failure, although CCTV footage suggests that high-risk maneuvering was the cause.
