Security guard shot in parking lot brawl

In Hawthorne, California, on February 14, 2024, a fatal altercation claimed the life of 57-year-old security guard Eddie McAllister. After work, Eddie was confronted by an unknown man in the parking lot of a restaurant. An argument broke out, leading to a scuffle during which the assailant lost his pistol. He quickly retrieved it and shot Eddie, inflicting a fatal wound to the abdomen. The assailant then fled, but was quickly arrested in a nearby town. Eddie, a father of five and grandfather, did not survive.
