On August 21, 2023, in Taiwan's Hualien province, a dramatic incident occurred. A drunk driver attempted to cross a railroad track just as the Taroko Express No. 401 train was passing. The car collided with the train's third car. Despite extensive damage to the vehicle, the driver was not seriously injured.
