In a peaceful village, a 41-year-old ex-soldier, Geoff Marshall, caused chaos by driving a 2.5-tonne military truck through a police roadblock. This act caused damage estimated at €310,000. Fleeing the police after an argument with his partner, he also damaged his wife's Range Rover and a lamppost. Marshall, who admitted acting in a state of emotional distress, was sentenced to 12 months' imprisonment for criminal damage and dangerous driving.
