On October 17, 2023 in Phoenix, Arizona, a 29-year-old man named Jamie Chavira was involved in a car chase with the police. Refusing to stop at their request, he fled by car, then on foot, taking refuge on the roof of a house. After a clumsy fall from one roof to another, he was caught and bitten on the thigh by a police dog. Chavira was then arrested, treated for his injuries and taken into custody.
