On an ordinary day, a dramatic event shook the surroundings of Colombia's iconic El Peñón de Guatapé. A sudden landslide caused rocks to rain down, spreading panic among the tourists. In the confusion, 17 people were injured. The site, revered by indigenous peoples and frequented daily by hundreds of visitors, was quickly cordoned off for security reasons, preventing public access. A safety inspection is currently underway to assess future risks.
