Recently, a disturbing video surfaced on the Internet, showing passengers on the Paris metro singing an offensive chant with anti-Semitic overtones. The 16-second video shows a flabbergasted passenger recording the scene. Against this backdrop, France is facing a worrying upsurge in anti-Semitic acts, ranging from simple graffiti to more violent acts. Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin recently revealed that 857 anti-Semitic incidents were reported following the incident involving Hamas and Israel. In light of these events, Human Rights Watch is calling for increased vigilance with regard to respect for human rights in Europe.
