In an act of collective bravery, passengers on the Tube (London Underground) foiled a cell phone thief. The man had discreetly taken the phone from a table at the Cubé restaurant in Mayfair while three friends were dining. Racha El Khalil and her friend Tarek immediately noticed the disappearance and chased the man, who spoke fluent French, to Bond Street station. On the platform of the Elizabeth Line train, Tarek warned him that they would follow him until the phone was returned. Eventually, under pressure from passengers, the man returned the phone before being chased from the carriage. The video of the event was widely shared on social networks, highlighting the mutual aid of strangers in the face of a malicious act.
