Police officers neutralize robbery suspect from their car

Arizona was the scene of a landmark police intervention on August 3. Detectives from the Mesa Police Department, along with members of the U.S. Marshals Arizona Wanted Task Force, were on the lookout for 20-year-old Ny'Kendreon Pride, the prime suspect in several robberies in the space of a few hours. Spotted near the Glen at Mesa apartments, authorities attempted to apprehend him. As he walked, a flashbang was fired to disorient him. Despite the use of non-lethal bullets, the young man allegedly tried to draw a weapon, so the police decided to fire live ammunition. He died in hospital shortly after 2pm. Police have confirmed that there is no longer any threat to local residents as a result of this incident
