Knife-wielding man lunges at NYPD officer and gets killed (Warning - shocking)

On August 4, around 11:30pm, a tragic intervention took place at the Roosevelt Landings apartment, 540 Main Street, Roosevelt Island. A 21-year-old man, under the influence of marijuana and without his medication, threatened a family member. The NYPD was alerted to a disturbance. The body cameras of four attending officers captured the scene. Upon entering the lobby, police were confronted by the suspect armed with a kitchen knife. Although one officer attempted to use a Taser, the young man did not stop. Two other officers opened fire, fatally wounding him. He died shortly after arriving at hospital. An investigation is underway, overseen by New York Attorney General Letitia James, who has released the body camera footage for greater transparency
