Dozens of University of Wisconsin students disappear into lake when pier collapses

During a Labor Day celebration, an unexpected event shook the students of the University of Wisconsin. While enjoying the sunshine near their university building, the frail wooden pier they were standing on collapsed. Between 60 and 80 students plunged into the waters of Lake Mendota.
