In a disturbing incident in a Kroger parking lot in Blendon Township, Ohio, pregnant 21-year-old Ta'Kiya Young was shot by a police officer after aiming her car at him. Approached by police following accusations of theft from a Kroger store employee, Ta'Kiya asked the question, "Are you going to shoot me?" shortly before an officer fired a bullet through the windshield. The unborn child also lost his life. Ta'Kiya's family is contesting the robbery charges. Their lawyer, Sean Walton, believes that the video shows that the shooting was unjustified and is calling for the officer to be charged. John Belford, Blendon Township's police chief, stressed that help was called quickly after the incident. However, a statement from the family calls Ta'Kiya's death "preventable" and a "heinous" act. The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation is currently investigating the case
