Maor Vanunu, renowned owner of the Hummus Kitchen and Zizi restaurants in New York, was violently attacked in February by 24-year-old Jounathan Maimon, son of a former Israeli cabinet secretary. Maimon allegedly hit Vanunu over the head with a 1.75-liter glass jug, causing a brain hemorrhage and other injuries. Despite charges of attempted murder, Maimon was released on $25,000 bail and allowed to return to Israel. Vanunu, still affected by his injuries, criticizes the judge's decision, suggesting that the Maimon family's influential connections play a role in the handling of the case.
