A daring customer turned an attempted armed robbery in Leeds into a sporting challenge by using beer crates as projectiles to deter burglars. Two thugs and an unnamed accomplice, armed with samurai swords, threatened an employee in a Londis store. Despite the threat, the intrepid customer managed to put them to flight by throwing a case of beer at them. The two principal criminals, Jeffrey Chikosha and Brandon Jarrett, were subsequently convicted and sentenced to nine and six years and nine months in prison respectively. No one was injured in the incident.
