Police officer hits prisoner and gets fired

Matthew Rodriguez, a 48-year-old police officer in Warren, Michigan, got his comeuppance in an atmosphere that's a little rougher than the daily grind of cop shows. He got a little overzealous when he roughed up a 19-year-old in custody for stealing a car and carrying a gun. The young man tasted the cell floor quite literally, under the blows of our law enforcement representative. Rodrigues is now out of commission, with bail set at $5,000. As for the teenager, he took a short trip to the hospital before returning to his cell.
