Police officer arrested after slapping suspect

When respect for the law becomes a punch in Detroit. A police officer, Matthew Rodriguez, showed a slight confusion between his duty and wrestling by attacking a 19-year-old, according to Warren Police Commissioner William Dwyer. Rodriguez's actions, immortalized on a video that does no credit to the uniform, earned him charges of willful neglect of duty and assault. Fortunately, other officers with their ideals still intact intervened. Small bill for the great arm of the law: bail set at $5,000.
