Last Monday, Juneteenth in Leimert Park, Los Angeles, experienced an unexpected moment of chaos. This annual celebration, honoring the emancipation of African-Americans in the 19th century, was disrupted by jostling. Later, a group of teenagers caused a disturbance at a McDonald's on Crenshaw Blvd, turning an ordinary visit into chaos: food thrown at staff, vandalism and theft of the cash register. Faced with the commotion, the employees preferred to withdraw, leaving the place at the mercy of the troublemakers.
