In South Carolina, during a routine traffic stop, a passenger, 28-year-old James Pierce, began shooting at Charleston sheriff's deputies. In response, the officers fired back at him, and were able to neutralize him fairly quickly. The deputy, who was shot three times, survived his injuries thanks to treatment at the hospital.. The driver, who appeared shocked by what was happening in front of her, was arrested, but her identity was not released.
