Suspect shot to death after shooting a police officer in the throat (Warning - shocking)

On April 18, around 9:30 p.m., a dramatic scene unfolded in the parking lot of Baptist Medical Center South in Jacksonville. Jeffrey Alan Martin, 38, was killed by police after wounding Officer Taylor Smith in the throat. Police dashcam footage shows the response. In Martin's car, police discovered a pistol, an AK-47 and three magazines. An independent investigation is underway to determine if the officers' actions were justified, and could take up to a year to conclude.
