Brothers Taru Carr-Hartley, a courageous 22-year-old helicopter pilot, and Roan, a 20-year-old wildlife conservation crewman, saved the life of a terrified truck driver who had been clinging to the cab of his overturned fuel tanker for more than six hours in a crocodile-infested river. The trucker had been swept away by a flash flood after heavy rains 30 km up the Galana River in Kenya's Tsavo East National Park. The two brothers took the controls of a helicopter to carry out a rescue mission worthy of Mission Impossible. They managed to save the truck driver by guiding him to the helicopter, thus avoiding certain death. The Carr-Hartley brothers, both experienced wildlife conservationists working for the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, are known for their courage and commitment to protecting African wildlife.
