Fights and shootings on a South Carolina beach

A shooting broke out Friday afternoon on a South Carolina beach, leaving six people hospitalized, police said. The incident occurred on the Isle of Palms, near Charleston, during a gathering under the pier for the traditional "senior skip day", a day when high school seniors skip classes. Altercations broke out among the group, which consisted primarily of teenagers and some adults. The victims, suffering from non-life threatening injuries, were transported to the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC). Several suspects were arrested on weapons charges.
