An imam was stabbed during a prayer service Sunday morning at a mosque in Paterson, New Jersey (USA), according to local authorities. Imam Sayed Elnakib was stabbed during the first prayer of the day, around 5:30 a.m., at the Omar Mosque in south Paterson as the congregation knelt to pray. The suspect, 32-year-old Serif Zorba, was arrested by police after attempting to flee. Mayor Andre Sayegh visited the imam in the hospital and confirmed that he was in stable condition. The suspect pleaded not guilty through his lawyer Monday afternoon.
