A student in Rockdale County, Georgia has been charged with aggravated battery after attacking their high school teacher, Tiwana Turner. The teacher was trying to redirect the student's off-task behavior when she was physically assaulted, resulting in knee and leg injuries, a broken leg and hospitalization. The president of the Georgia Federation of Teachers thinks the student and parents should be held accountable due to the increase in violence against teachers. A survey showed that 33% of teachers reported incidents of verbal harassment or threat of violence from students, with 10% reporting threats of injury and 6% reporting physical attacks. Support for Tiwana Turner's recovery can be found on GoFundMe.
