In 2018, a tanker and a lorry collided on a motorway on the outskirts of Bologna, Italy, causing a major fire and explosion. The collision caused the vehicles to catch fire and the partial collapse of the bridge on which they were standing. Two people were killed and more than 60 injured, mostly by debris and broken glass from the explosion. The fire also spread to a car park below, causing other vehicles to explode. Police closed roads in the area and people travelling to the nearby airport were delayed.
