Families in China have been forced to queue for hours outside crematoriums with the corpses of their relatives after a recent surge in Covid cases. Videos shared by a funeral director in Chengdu, southwest China, show a long queue of people carrying bodies on stretchers at 4am. They waited for hours until the crematorium opened so they could carry the deceased bodies to cremate them. Another video shows black smoke billowing out from the crematorium. The country is bracing for a new wave of Covid cases as tens of thousands of people travel across the country to celebrate the Chinese New Year holiday with their families.
